Docentka Libuše Trnková začala svoji kariéru budovat ve Výzkumném ústavu makromolekulární chemie, kde setrvala 2 roky, ale jako absolventku chemie a fyziky se zaměřením na učitelství ji to táhlo na školu, mezi mladé lidi. Chtěla učit, vychovávat další generace učitelů a vědců, jít jim příkladem a ukázat jim, že věda není nuda, ale velká zábava. Tato její touha byla natolik silná, že se rozhodla svůj život zasvětit Přírodovědecké fakultě Univerzity Jana Evangelisty Purkyně (UJEP), dnešní Masarykově univerzitě (MU). Jejíma rukama prošly protokoly, ročníkové nebo diplomové práce mnoha významných lidí, jako Prof. Jiřího Frimla, Prof. Ivana Holoubka, Doc. Petra Skládala, Prof. Vladimíra Mikeše, Doc. Jiřího Sopouška, Doc. Pavla Brože, Doc. Vojtěcha Adama, Prof. Reného Kizeka a dalších. Ale ani ona sama nezahálela a zvyšovala svoji kvalifikaci. V roce 1971 získala po obhajobě rigorózní práce „Dipólové momenty chlorderivátů tetrahydrofuranu“ titul RNDr., kandidátem přírodních věd (CSc.) v oboru teoretické a fyzikální chemie se stala v roce 1984 s prací „Elektrochemické chování purinových derivátů na rtuti“ a v roce 2000 obhájila habilitační práci „Aplikace moderních elektrochemických metod v biofyzikální chemii“ a pyšní se tak titulem docent.

V průběhu své kariéry sbírala zkušenosti také v zahraničí na mnoha akademických stážích, např. v Rusku, Slovinsku, Bulharsku, Maďarsku, USA, Turecku, Číně a Španělsku. Kontakty z těchto pobytů udržuje dodnes a navázala tak vynikající spolupráci mezi světovými univerzitami nejen na poli výzkumu, ale i v rámci pobytu zahraničních studentů na MU. Každoročně se účastní mnoha tuzemských i zahraničních konferencí, mezi nejvýznamnější patří mezinárodní konference ISE a ESEAC s elektrochemickou tématikou, Bioelectrochemistry a Heyrovského diskuse.

Je autorkou či spoluautorkou téměř 180 odborných prací, několika kapitol v monografiích a nespočtu konferenčních příspěvků. Celkový počet citací odborných článků je neuvěřitelných 2833, počet citovaných článků je 912 a její h – index je 30.

V roce 1998 založila spolu s doc. RNDr. Pavlem Janderkou, CSc. a prof. Ing. René Kizekem, Ph. D. Pracovní setkání fyzikálních chemiků a elektrochemiků. V počátcích se tato konference konala jednou za 2 roky, ale postupem času získala na popularitě a od roku 2004 se koná každoročně. V letošním roce nás čeká již XIII. ročník. V roce 2007 se k této konferenci přidala i Letní elektrochemická škola, která je zaměřena zejména na studenty a mladé vědce se zájmem se seznámit s nejmodernějšími metodami elektrochemického výzkumu přímo v laboratorní praxi.

Práce je jí koníčkem, ale dalším jejím koníčkem je sborový zpěv. Je dlouholetou členkou Brněnského filharmonického sboru Beseda brněnská a každoročně s ním absolvuje desítku koncertů, naplněných převážně klasickou a sakrální hudbou. S tímto sborem procestovala kus světa, zpívala např. v Německu, Polsku, Maďarsku, Rakousku, Velké Británii, ve Francii a v Holandsku.

Associate Professor Libuše Trnková

Associate Professor Libuše Trnková began to build his career at the Research Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, where she remained two years, but as a graduate of chemistry and physics, with a focus on teaching she would like to be a member of teachers at university. She wanted to teach, to educate the next generation of teachers and scholars, to be an example for students and to show them that science is not boring, but great fun. Her desire was so strong that she decided to dedicate her life to the Faculty of Science, University of Jan Evangelista (UJEP), today's Masaryk University (MU). She supervised number of protocols, coursework or dissertation of many scientist such as Prof. Jiri Friml, Prof. Ivan Holoubek, Prof. René Kizek, Doc. Petr Skladal, Prof. Vladimir Mikes, Doc. Jiri Sopousek, Doc. Pavel Broz, Doc. Vojtech Adam, and others. But even she herself did not idle and increased her qualifications. In 1971 she defended the thesis "Dipole moments of chloro-derivatives THF" and obtained RNDr.. She became Candidate of science (Ph.D.) in the field of theoretical physics and chemistry in 1984 on the basis of the work "Electrochemical behaviour of purine derivatives on Mercury". In 2000 she defended habilitation thesis "Application of modern electrochemical methods in biophysical chemistry" and got the title of Associate Professor.

Throughout her career, she gathered experiences abroad at many academic scholarships, such as Russia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, USA, Turkey, China and Spain. Contacts from these stays still maintain. These contacts served her for the excellent cooperation between universities worldwide, not only in research but also in the framework of foreign students at MU. Annually she participates in many national and international conferences, among the most important international conferences and ISE ESEAC with electrochemical themes, Bioelectrochemistry and Heyrovský discussion.

She is the author or co-author of nearly 180 scientific papers, chapters in several monographs and numerous conference papers. The total number of citations of articles is 2833, the number of cited papers is 912 and her h - index is 30

In 1998, together with the doc. RNDr. Pavel Janderka, PhD. and prof. Ing. René Kizek, Ph. D. she established Workshop of Physical Chemists and Electrochemists. At the beginning, the conference was held once every two years, but gradually gained in popularity. Since 2004, it has been holding annually. In this year, we will hold XIII. year. In 2007, this conference was joined by Electrochemical Summer School, which is focused on students and young scientists with an interest to be acquainted with the most modern methods of electrochemical research in the laboratory practice.

The work is her hobby, but she has another hobby as choral singing. It is long member of the Brno Philharmonic Choir and she annually completes ten concerts with this choir, filled mostly classical and sacred music. With this piece choir she has toured the world, including Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Great Britain, France and Holland.
