Rye is used for feeding animals in narrow range - that one who is unsuitable for human nutrition. It is placed to feed rations for fattening beef-cattle, diary cows, eventually pigs over 50 kg live mass on level from 10 to 20 %. Fresh rye can cause indigestion. It is not suitable for young or gravid animals. Ergot rye must not be used for feeding. Organic matter digestibility is the lowest of all cereals. Main cause of lower feeding value are soluble NSP (non-starch polysacharides), mostly arabinoxylans. Rye also contain trypsin inhibitor, but its content is much lower than in soya.
